FSCJ Esports Posts Strong Start to Sophomore Campaign
Jacksonville, FL – Florida State College at Jacksonville has solidified its standing as a competitive force in its second year as a varsity member of the National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE), posting a combined 43-25 record across six titles this fall.
The Fortnite squad led the charge, finishing the regular season 12-4 and reaching No. 1 nationally before an early postseason exit. Rocket League matched that intensity at 10-5, powered by standout performances from Spader, one of the league's premier talents.
FSCJ's Overwatch 2 team demonstrated resilience with a 7-6 record, notching signature wins over Carl Sandburg College, Seminole State College, San Jacinto College, and Northwest Florida State College. The Valorant squad finished 4-4, securing victories against Finger Lakes Community College, Trinity Valley Community College, Monroe College, and Lackawanna College. Meanwhile, Apex Legends posted a solid 5-2 mark, building on last year's fourth-place national finish.
FSCJ established a team in the new title Marvel Rivals, and by season's end it was the last Manta Rays squad standing. The team rattled off four straight wins to advance to the national semifinals before falling 3-2 in overtime to eventual champions, Missouri State.
"Our members showed tremendous growth this fall," said head coach Jerry Thor. "While three of our teams advanced to the postseason, it was rewarding to see all six develop and display the character we're cultivating here at FSCJ."

In addition to success in the virtual arena, several members of the program received NJCAAE All-Academic honors for earning 3.50+ GPA's in the classroom.
