Zack VerHulst
Bio

Zack VerHulst brings a proven track record of player development and Division I placement success to FSC Jacksonville as the program's new Head Men's Basketball Coach.

VerHulst previously served as Head Coach at Ranger College from 2023-2026 in Region 5, where he compiled 47 wins over three seasons while navigating one of the nation's toughest schedules. In his three years as Head Coach, VerHulst had 9 players sign Division I scholarships, including Asjon Anderson (Queens), Andrew Holifield (Lamar), Demarco Bethea (East Texas A&M), CJ Evans (UMKC), Addison Archer (Northern Kentucky), Kaylon Mason (New Haven), Cam Brown (Little Rock), Gavin Headings (Cleveland State), and Dave Meriwether (Alabama A&M). VerHulst has developed numerous award-winning players, including Cam Brown (All-American Honorable Mention, All-Region 5, 1st Team All-NTJCAC, and Freshman of the Year), Asjon Anderson (All-Region 5, 1st Team All-NTJCAC), and CJ Evans (All-Region 5, 1st Team All-NTJCAC). Additional honorees include Demarco Bethea (1st Team All-NTJCAC), Gavin Headings (2nd Team All-NTJCAC), and Kaylon Mason (2nd Team All-NTJCAC). In the classroom, the Ranger Men's Basketball team finished with a team GPA of 3.11 (2026), 3.05 (2025), and 3.32 (2024), demonstrating his commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the court.

VerHulst served as an assistant coach at Ranger College in the 2022-23 season, where the Rangers (27-8, 12-2) won the NTJCAC conference championship, went to the Region 5 Championship game, and made a NJCAA Sweet 16 appearance. The 2022-23 Rangers signed 5 players to Division 1 basketball programs (Fresno State, Troy, Milwaukee, Western Illinois, and Cal State Northridge).

VerHulst spent the 2021-22 basketball season as an assistant coach at Chipola College (2021-22). The Chipola team won the Panhandle conference and advanced to the NJCAA Final 4. 6 players from the 2021-22 Chipola team signed Division 1 including Nae'Qwan Tomlin to Kansas State; other players signed to Old Dominion, UTEP, Samford, Southern, and Chicago State.

VerHulst served three years as a graduate assistant for the Eastern Michigan men's basketball team. He was on the Eagles' staff from 2018-2021 where he primarily focused on video and analytics.

The Grandville, Michigan, native is a 2015 graduate of the University of Memphis with a degree in business accounting. He earned his master's degree from Eastern Michigan University in 2021 in Sports Management.
