FSCJ Names Rylie Engelson Head Volleyball Coach

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) Athletics is proud to announce the hiring of Rylie Engelson as Head Coach of the Manta Rays' indoor and beach volleyball programs. Engelson arrives at FSCJ fresh off a historic championship season and brings a résumé defined by program building, elite recruiting, and championship results.

Engelson comes to Jacksonville from Treasure Valley Community College, where she just completed one of the most remarkable turnarounds in Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) history. Inheriting a program that had gone 0–24 the year before her arrival, Engelson led the Chukars to a 32–4 record and the first NWAC Volleyball Championship in program history during the 2025–26 season. For her efforts, she was named both NWAC Coach of the Year and East Region Coach of the Year.

In five seasons as a collegiate coach, Engelson has compiled a 95–39 overall record (.709 winning percentage) while leaving every program she's touched better than she found it.

"Rylie's track record speaks for itself, but what impressed us most was her vision for our student-athletes both on the court and in the classroom," said Jerry Thor, FSCJ Director of Athletics. "She's a proven winner, a relentless recruiter, and a coach who develops the whole person."

Under Engelson's leadership at Treasure Valley, student-athletes earned an array of postseason honors, including East Region MVP, Baden Player of the Year, All-Region selections, NWAC Championship Tournament honors, and AVCA All-American recognition. Equally notable, her teams sustained a 3.6 cumulative team GPA over four years and consistently advanced players to four-year institutions.

Prior to Treasure Valley, Engelson served as assistant and interim head coach at Walla Walla Community College, guiding the Warriors to an 18–8 record and an NWAC Championship Tournament berth. She also coached at Timberline High School in Boise, Idaho, where she compiled a 51–7 mark, captured back-to-back district championships, and was named the 2017 Southern Idaho Conference Coach of the Year. On the club side, Engelson coached national-level teams at Idaho Crush Volleyball working with athletes at the 16U, 17U, and 18U levels.

A decorated player in her own right, Engelson competed at Mt. Hood Community College and Eastern Oregon University, earning two-time All-American honors across two collegiate divisions, NWAC Player of the Year recognition, and MVP of a junior college championship team.
