A five-run first inning set the tone Friday as the FSCJ Manta Rays rolled to a 9–1 victory over USC Sumter at Riley Park.
FSCJ came out swinging early. Martineau launched a two-run home run to right field, and Disbrow followed with a three-run shot to left, giving the Manta Rays a commanding lead before the Fire Ants could settle in. FSCJ added two more runs in the second inning when Prudencio doubled to right field to extend the advantage.
Glover earned the win on the mound, allowing one run on three hits over four innings. He struck out seven and walked two in a strong outing. USC Sumter's starter lasted just one inning, surrendering five runs (four earned) on five hits. Yesensky and Wortham each contributed scoreless innings in relief to close out the game for FSCJ.
The Manta Rays totaled 13 hits in the win. Gonzalez, Newman, Prudencio, and Martineau each recorded two hits. Disbrow drove in three runs to lead the offense, finishing 1-for-3 on the day.
The early offensive explosion proved more than enough as FSCJ controlled the game from start to finish.
Big Sixth Inning Sends FSCJ Manta Rays to 10–2 Loss Against USC Sumter
February 7, 2026 – vs. USC Sumter Fire Ants
The FSCJ Manta Rays were defeated 10–2 by USC Sumter on Saturday at Riley Park, as a seven-run sixth inning proved to be the difference.
USC Sumter opened the scoring in the first inning with a solo home run to right field. The Manta Rays answered in the fifth when Prudencio launched a solo shot to right to cut into the deficit.
The game broke open in the bottom of the sixth. USC Sumter plated seven runs on four hits, taking advantage of an FSCJ error and stringing together timely hits.
Carson started for FSCJ, allowing two runs on four hits over four innings while striking out three and walking one. USC Sumter's starter limited the Manta Rays to one run on three hits across 4.2 innings.
Martineau led FSCJ at the plate with two hits in three at-bats. Vazquez and Prudencio each recorded an RBI in the loss.
FSCJ Manta Rays Fall 10–9 After USC Sumter Rally
February 7, 2026 – vs. USC Sumter Fire Ants
The FSCJ Manta Rays let a four-run lead slip away Saturday, falling 10–9 to USC Sumter at Riley Park in a back-and-forth battle.
FSCJ opened the scoring in the first inning on a groundout by Vazquez. USC Sumter answered quickly, taking a 2–1 lead in the bottom half after a triple to center and a double to right, each driving in a run. The Fire Ants added another run in the third with a solo home run.
The Manta Rays surged ahead in the fourth inning, stringing together singles from Prudencio, Gonzalez, Martineau, and Vazquez to take a 7–3 lead. USC Sumter responded again in the bottom of the frame, tying the game on a single and a fielder's choice.
A double in the fifth gave the Fire Ants an 8–7 advantage. FSCJ reclaimed the lead in the sixth when Vazquez grounded out to bring in a run and Collins followed with an RBI single to center.
Newman started for the Manta Rays, allowing three runs on three hits over 2.1 innings while striking out two. FSCJ finished with 10 hits, led by Vazquez, who drove in three runs. Martineau added two hits and stole two bases as the Manta Rays totaled four steals in the tough loss.
