Over the weekend, Florida State College at Jacksonville welcomed multiple teams from out of state to play in the second annual Howard Roey Classic. These games featured teams that were ranked in the top 25 for NJCAA DII that have appeared in the World Series over the last few seasons.
Collins Drives In Four as FSCJ Manta Rays Hold Off Kankakee, 8–6
February 13, 2026 – vs. Kankakee Community College Cavaliers
Collins powered the FSCJ Manta Rays to an 8–6 victory over Kankakee Community College on Friday at FSCJ North Campus, driving in four runs on two hits. His biggest swing came in the fifth inning when he ripped a bases-clearing double to extend the Manta Rays' lead.
Kankakee struck first in the opening inning on a groundout, but FSCJ answered immediately. An error by the Cavaliers and a run scored on a wild pitch helped the Manta Rays take the lead in the bottom of the first.
FSCJ built a comfortable advantage before Kankakee mounted a late rally. The Cavaliers trimmed the deficit in the sixth and then erupted for five runs in the seventh. A bases-loaded walk, a sacrifice fly, a two-run single, and an RBI double to made things tight down the stretch.
Glover earned the win for FSCJ, allowing just one run on five hits over six strong innings while striking out five. Barry and Yesensky combined in relief to help secure the victory.
Vazquez and Collins each collected two hits while batting back-to-back in the lineup.
Late Home Run Lifts FSCJ Manta Rays Past Central Alabama, 5–4
February 13, 2026 – vs. Central Alabama Community College Trojans
The FSCJ Manta Rays rallied late to earn a 5–4 victory over Central Alabama Community College on Friday, taking the lead for good in the sixth inning.
FSCJ struck first in the opening inning when Collins delivered an RBI single. Daneault added another run in the second with a base hit to extend the lead to 2–0. Central Alabama answered in the third, stringing together singles to jump ahead 4–2.
Trailing 4–3 in the bottom of the sixth, Newman came through with the decisive swing of the game, launching a two-run home run to right field to give the Manta Rays a 5–4 edge.
Carson started on the mound for FSCJ, allowing four runs on five hits over 4.2 innings while striking out four. Musgrove was dominant in relief, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings and striking out seven without issuing a walk to secure the win.
The Manta Rays totaled 12 hits in the game. Martineau led the way with a perfect 4-for-4 performance at the plate. Collins and Daneault each recorded multiple hits, while Newman drove in two runs from the heart of the lineup.
FSCJ Manta Rays Take Down Kellogg, 4–2
February 14, 2026 – vs. Kellogg Community College Bruins
The FSCJ Manta Rays secured a 4–2 victory over Kellogg Community College on Saturday at FSCJ North Campus.
FSCJ wasted no time getting on the board, as Vazquez delivered an RBI single in the first inning. The Manta Rays added another run in the second when Daneault singled to right field to extend the lead to 2–0. Collins increased the advantage in the third with a solo home run to left field.
Kellogg answered in the fourth on a solo home run, but FSCJ's pitching staff kept the Bruins from building any further momentum.
O Wilfong started for the Manta Rays and was sharp, allowing just one hit over two scoreless innings while striking out five. Bradley provided steady relief, tossing four innings and giving up one run on three hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
Vazquez led the offense with two RBIs from the cleanup spot, finishing 1-for-2. Daneault set the tone at the top of the lineup with two hits in two at-bats. Defensively, FSCJ turned a double play and played error-free baseball.
The Manta Rays controlled the game from start to finish to earn the win.
